About Us
Allen Wood, Psy.D
As a therapist, I focus on making space and adding harmony between the different parts of yourself, your story, and your daily life. This means welcoming all of the pieces that make you, you; whatever they may be. In working together, you can expect warmth, understanding, and compassion, open collaboration at each stage of the process, and an abundance of metaphors.
To better understand the nuances of your situation, I draw from a clinical backdrop of attachment theory and interpersonal neurobiology. This means using a foundation of evidence-based tools and strategies specifically chosen to strengthen your body and your brain as they work to regulate emotions, build authentic connections with others, and heal from negative experiences. I’m constantly working to expand my understanding of how the body, brain, mind, emotions, relationships, and self all work together in order to help them harmonize.
I received my M.S. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Institute for Psychological Sciences in Sterling, VA. My clinical experience includes working in substance abuse treatment, university counseling, and private practice.
